This past Friday evening, I made history in Santa Barbara.
O.k., nothing super duper dramatic or anything to put in the city's history books.
For me, it was a biggie.
I'm talking a first ever Bollywood Flash Mob performance, people.
You see them all over You Tube, these flash mobs.
With the suggestion and invitation of my friend Nicky LaFleur, I said "YES!"
My students never knew how nervous I was to do this.
Seems like no biggie and I've taken on much larger projects, but this was new territory for me.
You see, whenever I do something for the first time, be it a new offering or project, I am usually terrified.
The same questions run through my brain...
"Will anyone show up to participate?"Yes, Regina (read my last blog post) comes into play and gets the fear all loosened up and active.
"Will it suck?"
"How the hell am I going to pull this off?"
"What am I doing?"
But this is the good kind of fear. The kind that pushes you forward and lets you know that a growth spurt is about to occur.
Get out of the box.
Create from scratch.
Needless to say, it was a huge success. 18 of us filled the outdoor lobby of the Arlington Theater for a fabulous Lucidity event.
Despite some sound issues, the energy and smiles of my dancers during the performance created a huge wave of joy.

The crowd loved us.
I've been teaching Bollywood Fusion Dance for over 3 years now in Santa Barbara and it brings me such satisfaction to witness this wave of joy in our performances and in my classes.

I love that I push myself beyond my comfort zone and that each year we raise the bar.
You can join me on this adventure in Bollywood-land (Lisa Beck-style) every Monday at the Santa Barbara Dance Center from 6-7 p.m.
Step out of your comfort zone and more into the colorful, joyful, and celebratory YOU!
Peace and Bhangra bounces...
p.s. Stay tuned for the video of our performance (coming soon to the LBL You Tube Channel)
